Something huge has happened to you

If you are looking for a celebrant, something monumental has happened in your life.

Maybe a joyous thing like you have decided to get married and formalize your promise to your partner. Your child has come of age and you want to celebrate this new stage. You have transitioned and want to commemorate your new name with a ceremony.

The other reason that people look to a celebrant or officiant for help is when someone they love has died.

I began learning about memorial services the day that my own mother died. Having no religious background or organization to draw upon, I wasn’t sure how to do anything. What exactly is a funeral? All I knew was that I wanted to celebrate her life and bring people together for some sort of occasion. Because I had a theatrical background, I thought I could stand up and speak. I was wrong. My grief overcame me. How do people do this?

So I started to learn more about helping people to mark milestones in their lives. I trained as a Humanist celebrant and ran a chapter of a non-religious church in Silicon Valley. Much of this work involved creating rituals and listening to people. I love to create personal eulogies and design individual ceremonies.

I would be happy to talk to you about your needs. You can also find my contact details on the Humanist Society directory.

Client Reviews

“Gillian was a fantastic celebrant for our wedding. It was hard to find a non religious officiant, and I'm so happy to have found her. She is warm and sincere. She had a great speaking voice during the ceremony. She made it easy to meet with her, and was easy to work with once we decided to use her services. She worked with us to make a unique ceremony just for us. On top of all that, she was also very reasonable with her fees.”
